Alex Kropp, Michael’s youngest son, graduated from UCLA in 2018 and currently works as a sales representative for medical devices in Minneapolis, MN. He lives with his fiancée Natalie and dog Josie Bruin. Alex was in high school when Michael was first diagnosed with crc and lived through his surgeries and treatments. He saw first hand the evolution of this disease – from simple surgery to a life changing phone call 8 years later. After Michael’s re-diagnosis in 2020, Alex joined his parents at the first California Climb for the Cure Community Climb where he convinced his friends that they needed to pay attention to colorectal cancer. He discovered that the topic was easy to address with his friends while engaging in physical activities. He organized a golf tournament just before his dad’s services to bring awareness to his friends – and will now carry on that tradition through Big Mike’s Bottom Line Annual Invitational Golf Tournaments.
“My dad was/is my role model, coach, mentor, and friend. We have always shared a close bond especially through sports. My relationship with my dad has always meant a lot to me especially as I moved into the business world. I learned by listening to him and his has shaped the way I conduct myself in my sales role.
Over the past few years, I have seen first hand how prevalent this disease has become especially to those under the age of 50. I want to be out in front of this problem so we can prevent others from experiencing what our family has gone through.
I hope to accomplish a lot as a board member including putting on a bigger and better golf tournament every year always with the goal of educating participants about colorectal cancer and gut health. I want to develop relationships with corporate partners and establish our brand.
Since this journey began for the Kropp Family, I have learned how early CRC is being found in people and especially those in my age bracket. I know we can do a lot to help people and I have really enjoyed how much other people are willing to help us accomplish our goals. It really shows me that we can do a lot to spread the word and try to prevent this disease.”
